I’m a HUGE Cincinnati Reds fan. Anyone who knows me can attest to this. Tonight we lost to Pittsburgh in the MLB wildcard playoff. Losing sucks. There’s no other way to say it. Sometimes I think I hate losing more than I enjoy winning.

They say sports is a metaphor for life. I suppose that’s true. The teams we root for help define us. If you’re a true fan, you stick with your team through thick and thin. The good and the bad. The winning and the losing. But the losing never gets easy. (Even if you’re a Cubs fan, or so I’m told.)

Tonight I’m bitter. Tomorrow will look a little brighter. But as I’ve been saying since 1990 (the last time the Reds won the World Series), “there’s always next year.”
