One of the saddest things in life is potential unrealized. Or even worse, potential wasted. Too many people have amazing athletic potential, and yet their actual skill never catches up to their potential. Maybe it’s because they don’t want to work as hard. Maybe they simply don’t want it bad enough. But whatever the reason, their over-abundance of potential is never met. It’s sad.

In business I see it too. The guy who has taken all the courses, read all the books, gotten all the education. Yet never takes action on or utilizes the incredible amount of business knowledge he has accumulated. Information junkies, I call them. Always looking for the silver bullet, the one piece of information that will “click” and provide the shortcut to success. They never find it.

Potential. Education. Knowledge. It’s all worthless without action. Action is the fuel that powers accomplishment. Sitting, thinking, dreaming, wishing are all fun and enjoyable. But they’re all wasted if not acted upon.

Potential be damned. Take action. It’s the only way to realize your potential.
