I’m obsessed with quality. Not the fake, brand-name type of quality, but real, “quality guaranteed or your money back, no questions asked” type of quality.

We live in a microwave society. Instant gratification is everyone’s constant desire, and “I want it now” the mantra. But quality takes time. It’s not instant.

The perfect example of this is Saddleback Leather. Saddleback Leather makes leather bags. But not just any bags. Amazing, beautiful, handmade, 100 year warranty quality bags. They’re not cheap. Some might even call them “super expensive.” But Saddleback Leather isn’t worried about the price. They only care about building the best quality imaginable.

The antithesis of this is Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart doesn’t care about quality. They care about price. They want everything to be the lowest possible cost, even if it means selling goods of inferior quality. Even their slogans focus on pricing, but say nothing about quality.

Those who focus only on price are thinking (VERY) short-term. They are doing themselves a huge disservice, and will end up paying more in the long-term. Over time, quality products last longer, which equates to less money spent, which equals better value. And isn’t that what we all really want…value?
